Are you seeing more hairs than normal in your sink and hair brush. Are they coming out in clumps? Plus, you do not know what is causing them to fall out. Well it could be because of stress. Normal loss is about 50 to 100 strands a day. If you are losing more than this it should be investigated to determine the cause.

With large amounts of hair loss, you should always see your doctor to determine the cause. He may diagnose it as being from stress.

So what is stress? Stress can be defined in many ways. But the most common definition is when a condition or event produces a negative event on the body. Some conditions that can cause stress and hair loss are:

Child Birth
Divorce
Money Problems
Death In The Family
Illness
Surgery

These are just some of the conditions that can cause loss of hair.

Hair loss caused by stress is known as telogen effluvium. Telogen is when the hair goes into the rest phase of the hair growth cycle. Telogen effluvium is when the hair is forced prematurely into the rest phase by stress. Six to eight weeks after the stress event occurs, the hair that has entered the telogen phase will fall out.

The reason the hair goes into the telogen effluvium is because of lack of energy. The body sees that more energy is needed elsewhere to deal with a stress event. It will divert energy from hair growth to the other places where the body needs this energy. Lack of energy to the hair follicle will force the hair strand into the rest phase.

So what can you do about this? Well the first thing to do is remove the event that is causing the stress and then look for ways to re-grow your hair. Once you notice your hair falling out, the event that caused the hair loss to occur, such as childbirth, surgery, etc, may have already been eliminated. However, it may still be there causing hair loss and needs to be corrected.

If your hair loss is caused by telogen effluvium, the good news is once the event causing the stress is corrected, your hair will grow back. To help accelerate new hair growth, ensure your diet is focused toward providing the proper nutrients to your hair follicles. Your diet should be high in zinc, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Jimmy Chase started losing his hair when he turned 50. He has done lots of studies on loss of hair, in both men and women, to determine what works and what doesn’t. He has successfully stopped his hair loss and has even re-grown some of his hair. He wants to help other people learn what he has learned, on dealing with loss of hair and re-growing hair.
